Introducing the Vande Bharat Sleeper: New Delhi to Srinagar – Coming January 2025

The Indian Railways is gearing up to launch a brand-new addition to its Vande Bharat series—a high-speed overnight sleeper train connecting New Delhi to Srinagar. This highly anticipated service is set to begin in January 2025, promising faster, more comfortable overnight travel across long distances.

Built for Comfort and Speed

Manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), the Vande Bharat Sleeper is designed to provide an enhanced travel experience for passengers, featuring state-of-the-art amenities for a relaxed journey. The prototype of the sleeper train was unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in September 2024.

Enhanced Connectivity to Jammu & Kashmir

This new service will significantly boost rail connectivity between India’s national capital, New Delhi, and Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. Indian Railways has also laid out plans to extend the route further to Baramulla, which will improve access to the northernmost region of India.

Route and Maintenance

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will operate under the Northern Railway (NR) zone, with the route covering over 800 kilometers between New Delhi and Srinagar. The train will stop at key cities, including Ambala Cantt Junction, Ludhiana Junction, Kathua, Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Sangaldan, and Banihal. The maintenance and operational management of the train will also be handled by Northern Railway.

Travel Time & Schedule

The Vande Bharat Sleeper will cut down travel time to less than 13 hours. Departing from New Delhi at 7:00 PM, passengers will arrive in Srinagar at 8:00 AM the following morning, offering a quick and efficient journey, especially with the expedited construction of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBHL) project.

Ticket Classes and Pricing

This train will offer three ticket classes to cater to different budgets and preferences:

  • AC 3 Tier (3A): ₹2,000

  • AC 2 Tier (2A): ₹2,500

  • AC First Class (1A): ₹3,000

The Vande Bharat Sleeper is set to redefine long-distance rail travel between New Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring comfort, speed, and convenience for travelers.
